CAIS Admissions Testing:
Charlotte Area Independent School (CAIS)
A Consortium for Applicant Assessment for Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 4
The independent schools that make up CAIS require standardized cognitive evaluations as part of the admissions process to help determine the best educational match for your child. The following tests are administered by Dr. Duffy that meet CAIS requirements:
TK, K and 1st Grades: Wechsler Preschool & Primary Scale of Intelligence-IV (WPPSI-IV)
The Wechsler Preschool & Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI-IV) is individually administered by Dr. Duffy. The WPPSI-IV provides scores that represent functioning in four specific cognitive domains: Verbal Comprehension, Visual Spatial, Fluid Reasoning and Working Memory. The WPPSI-IV also provides an overall Full Scale IQ score that measures general intellectual ability. The WPPSI-IV typically takes between 45 minutes to 1-1/2 hours to complete. The fee for test administration and a CAIS report to parents and selected schools is $275. An optional parent feedback session is recommended to review full test results and aid in understanding the educational implications for your child. A feedback session can be scheduled for a $200 consultation fee.
Rising Grades 2-4: Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-5th Edition (WISC-V)
The WISC-V is now being administered for applicants to grades 2-4. The WISC-V is individually administered by Dr. Duffy. The WISC-V provides overall scores that represent functioning in five specific cognitive domains: Verbal Comprehension, Visual Spatial, Fluid Reasoning , Working Memory and Processing Speed. The WISC-V also provides an overall Full Scale IQ score that measures general intellectual ability. The WISC-V typically takes around 60 minutes to complete. The fee for test administration and a CAIS report to parents and selected schools is $275. An optional parent feedback session is recommended to review full test results and aid in understanding the educational implications for your child. A feedback session can be scheduled for a $200 consultation fee.
